London

London, live: the Underground and its trains, TfL rail, National Rail and every bus on the road, on one map.

How it works

One map of London as it really lies, with what’s moving on it right now. The Underground’s trains are placed from TfL’s arrival predictions and glide along the track between updates; the Elizabeth line, Overground, DLR and trams are drawn alongside; National Rail stations open their live departure boards; and every bus on the road comes from the Department for Transport’s Bus Open Data Service, about eight thousand of them at a busy time.

Click a bus to see its route drawn along the road, or look one up by number. Each kind of data is a layer that can be switched off, and new ones can be added as more data comes in.

All the live data comes through the site’s own cache, shared by everyone watching: the whole bus fleet is fetched at most twice a minute however many people have the map open.
